Adam Curry has always been a fighter. Whenever there was something troubling him, he pushes through it and never looks back. Right now, he is currently living in the San Francisco working for the Aquarium of the Bay after leaving the Department of Defense. this is his home. No matter where he has traveled before, California completed him like no other has done before. He decided to stay in California in the end to be near his father.

In the beginning, his parents were dating. Five months into the relationship, the condom broke. She acted as if she wanted to be in the child’s life with each month of the pregnancy. Once eight months passed, and Adam was born, and she left. He was three months old left in the crib with a soiled diaper. His father did not go into drinking, but stood up and worked hard to take care of Adam alone. He had a couple of odd jobs along with doing contruction. Growing up, Adam hung out at the trailer on site because his father could not get a babysitter watch him. Besides his father was not interested in dating anyone to replace Adam’s mother.

He excelled in school and played sports. Football, baseball, swimming, sailing, and basketball kept him going. His father ended up getting his own construction company which helped pay for all the extracuricular activities. As graduation came closer, he knew he should follow into his father’s footsteps but he admired the marine life. He interned at an aquarium for a bit during his last months of high school to gain some knowledge before getting out of town. Plus he wanted to see the world. To experience life on the outside away from San Diego, so he enlisted in the Army.

His first base in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a young adult, smoking and drinking entered his lifestyle. It eased his way into making friends. He went through three tours in the eight years he was in Alaska. He lost his best friend in the line of fire in Afghanistan. That was when PTSD came to. He saw everything happen, they were taking in fire and while they were getting to the next checkpoint, they were ambushed. He dragged his friend to get out of enemy fire, but he has lost too much blood. This is one of the very few things that haunts Adam to this day.

There was no doubt that he had to get out of Alaska, too many memories were hovering around. As soon as an opening for a transfer happened, Adam took it. Straight to Colorado. He began online courses for school, to get his basics and to work on his marine biology degree. His father finally remarried, and the two kept doing their best on setting him up with someone to their standards.

At the end of 2013, he took a break up really hard. He had been trying to eventually settle down in one spot and start working on getting the family everyone was having. It unfortunately was not in his favor. He agreed to do another tour, and it was his last. During a mission, Adam was trying to comminucate with a family who was led to believe to have firearms. They were not cooperating and out of nowhere there was an explosion. His left side took a lot of damage. Most of his left arm had been repaired. He suffered nerve damage and most of his hand has titanium.

He was medically discharged, and his rank was Major. The military offered him a job in San Francisco. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse. After several months of physical therapy, his arm is as good as new. He does go to meetings for veterans, to help with the nightmares and tells stories of the glory days. But he is now home.

Adam lost his abilities as soon as his daughter was born. His transition to being a normal human was difficult. Though the smile on his daughters face through the days brightened his day. He left the Department of Defense job and joined the Aquarium of the Bay. He has focused on his family and job ever sense. No more cameras after outing himself. As soon as his abilities left, the people did too.
